  • 1 can (14.9 ounces) Guinness stout
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 3 celery stalks, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 pie crusts
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large pot, brown the beef on all sides.
  3. Add onions, carrots, and celery; cook until softened.
  4. Stir in garlic and cook for one minute.
  5. Mix in tomato paste, then pour in Guinness and beef broth.
  6. Season with thyme, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
  7. Simmer for about 2 hours until beef is tender.
  8. Pour the mixture into a pie dish and cover with a pie crust.
  9. Brush the crust with beaten egg.
  10. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • Serve with mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
  • Can be made ahead and reheated.
