Hungarian Goulash Recipe

  • 2 pounds beef chuck, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 ounces)
  • 2 medium potatoes, diced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onions and garlic, and sauté until soft.
  3. Add the cubed beef and brown on all sides.
  4. Stir in paprika and caraway seeds.
  5. Add the bell pepper, beef broth, and diced tomatoes, bringing to a simmer.
  6. Cover and cook for 1.5 to 2 hours, until beef is tender.
  7. Stir in potatoes, salt, and black pepper.
  8. Cook for an additional 30 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.

Notes
