  • 4 cups onions, sliced
  • 4 slices turkey bacon, chopped
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup cheese, shredded (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook the chopped turkey bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add onions and olive oil, cooking until the onions are caramelized.
  3. Transfer onions and bacon to the crockpot.
  4. Add beef broth, water, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper to the crockpot.
  5. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  6. If desired, top with cheese before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, use vegetable broth and omit the bacon.
