Warm Baked Traditional Scotch Pie

  • 1 pound minced lamb or beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons beef stock
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 package shortcrust pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a pan, cook the minced meat and onion until browned.
  3. Add beef stock, salt, pepper, and nutmeg; mix well.
  4. Roll out the shortcrust pastry and cut into circles.
  5. Place a spoonful of the meat mixture onto half of the pastry circles.
  6. Cover with the remaining pastry circles, sealing the edges.
  7. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
